July 26, 1938 ~ June 15, 2022 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

On June 15, 2022, Edward ("Ed") S. Williams was called home by his Lord and Savior while sleeping peacefully. Ed was born in New Orleans on July 26, 1938 to Herbert L. and Elise (Soulier) Williams. Ed spent his early years Uptown attending and graduating from St. Rita School. Ed was a member of the Class of 1956 of Jesuit High School. Upon graduating Jesuit, Ed enrolled at Tulane University. However, Ed felt compelled to answer his Nation's call and he left his studies at Tulane to serve in the United States Coast Guard. After honorably serving his Nation, Ed returned to Tulane and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. While at Tulane, Ed worked for the J. Aron Coffee Importer company. Upon graduation Ed took a position with Middle South Services, which would later become Entergy. After 10 years with Middle South Services Ed moved to Danbury, Connecticut, and was employed by publisher B. Dalton. Ed later returned home to the New Orleans area and worked for Ochsner Health Systems in their IT department. After many years of dedicated service Ed retired from Ochsner. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jean Charbonnet, brother Herbert L. Williams Jr., son-in-law Richard Macmurdo and his beloved wife Bobby (Finney-Meador) Williams. Ed is survived by his sister Mary Jane Phelan; beloved daughters: Alison Meador King (Shawn) and Stacie Meador Macmurdo; five adoring grandchildren: Brennan King, Carson King, Kendall King, Lauren Macmurdo and Bailey Kate Macmurdo, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Standing at 6'4" Ed was a gentle giant who never once could be heard raising his voice. He was a constant soft-spoken gentleman. Anyone who knew Ed would attest that his kindness and generosity were without bounds. A lifelong Christian, Ed was a member at several churches over the years and it was a guarantee that he would be singing in the choir. Ed loved to lift his beautiful voice to The Lord and each congregation Ed belonged to received a tremendous blessing hearing him sing. Over the past 20 years Ed made his home in River Ridge, where his neighbors will always recall seeing Ed on his porch saying his daily prayers. All those who loved and cherished Ed, friends and family alike, are warmly invited to celebrate a life well-lived at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001 on Monday, June 27th. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. with a Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. Interment will follow immediately thereafter in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
