Edward J. Corass, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 73. He was the beloved husband of Joy Rita Cook Corass for 53 years. Father of Edward J. Corass III (Dawn), Melissa Corass (Ernest Posey), Randy Corass (Aimee), Daryl Corass (Emilie) and Norman Corass (Naomi). Devoted grandfather of Luke Corass (Erin), Melanie Corass, Rachel Corass, Stacey Corass, Justin Lee (Gabby), Lauryn Lee, Jonathan Corass (Caitlyn), Hunter Corass, Dalton Corass, Lauren Wesphal, Megan Posey, Peighton Sandoval and Kala Sandoval. Great-grandfather of Oliver Lee, Grayson Lee, Griffin Lee and Eloise Wesphal. He is also survived by his three sisters, Virginia Greenwood (Jimmy), Margaret Worden (Keith) and Antoinette Dillenkoffer; a sister-in-law, Rita Corass, numerous nieces and nephews and his grand-puppies, Beaux, Mignon, Sugar Pie, Toby and Lylia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Corass, Sr. and Virginia Corass; two brothers, Clifford Corass and Allen Corass; a granddaughter, Brooke Posey and a grand-puppy, Bebelle. Eddie was a self-employed electrician for 50 years and a devoted playground coach at several JPRD playgrounds including Lakeshore, Jefferson, Avondale and Harahan. In 1972, he was the Grand Marshall of the Turnbull Social and Carnival Club. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of East Jefferson Hospital’s CCU and also to St. Joseph Hospice at Carpenter House for their kindness and care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday evening, March 1, 2018 from 5 – 10 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at a later date.
