Edward Joseph Bourgeois Sr.

Edward Joseph Bourgeois, Sr, AKA "Eddie B from Metairie", passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2018. He was born on March 8, 1933 to the late Ovide J. Bourgeois, Sr. and Ella Marie Veron Bourgeois. Beloved husband for 60 years to Jessie Martinez Bourgeois. Devoted father of Lisa Firmin-Schroeder (Mary), Craig Bourgeois (Cathy), Sheree Knauth (Darin), Edward Bourgeois, Jr. (Johanna), and Joy Tregle (Keith). Loving grandfather of Larry, Chad, Jennifer, Danielle, Dominique, Taylor, Baylie, Kyle, Jordan, Jessica, Madeleine, Mason, and 11 great-grandchildren. Brother of Yvonne Adams, Sylvia Bartholomew, and the late Donald Bourgeois, Owen Bourgeois, Blanche Lovecchio, Rosemary Bukaski, Ovide Bourgeois, Jr., Robert Bourgeois, Carolyn Schlosser, Carl Bourgeois, and Ella Marie Morello. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Eddie was a resident of Metairie and a longtime parishioner of St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as a sheet metal mechanic at Crescent City Sheet Metal Works for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 175 and the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 11. Eddie enjoyed playing pool and visiting Corner Pocket and Buffalo's Billiards. He loved his family and many other things, but the true love of his life was his "Bride" Jessie. The family would like to give special thanks to the Southeast LA Veterans Home and Hospice Compassus for their loving care of Edward.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Christopher the Martyr, 309 Manson Ave. Metairie, LA 70001 on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass starting at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA 70001.
