Mrs. Earlyn “Teedle” Adaline Lewis Humbles entered eternal rest on Monday, January 09, 2023, in Houston, TX at the age of 65. Earlyn is survived by her daughter, Valencia A. Humbles (Houston); her sisters, Debra L. Ross (Cypress) and Janna H. Lewis (Cypress); her nephew, David Baptiste Jr. (Katy), nieces, Tamika L. Robertson (Katy) and Tara Toney (Katy); her great-nephews and nieces: Jordon T. Chestnut (Katy), Jaydon T. Chestnut (Katy), Chloe A. Quinn (Katy), Chase A. Quinn (Katy) Sunil Loorkhoor (Houston), Susie Loorkhoor (Houston), Christopher Loorkhoor (Houston), and Kaitlyn Loorkhoor (Houston); her dearest relatives / friends: Thelma Hathorn, Wilbert Daggs, Linda Daggs, David “Chief” Baptiste Sr., Patricia Cook, Linda Smith and Abeline Zachary; and a host of other relatives and friends. Earlyn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ada Roussell Smith (New Orleans) and Hamilton Harold Holmes (Detroit); parents, Viola E. Holmes Lewis (New Orleans) and Earl Lewis Jr. (New Orleans); her sister, Valencia A. Lewis (New Orleans); her husband, Tyrone Humbles (Metairie); her cousin, Earl Livingston “Nerps” Jackson (Los Angeles / Houston); and her brother-in-law, Lawrence Ross (New Orleans). Early was born on June 01, 1957, in New Orleans, LA to Viola E. Holmes Lewis and Earl Lewis Jr. She completed her primary school education at Thomy Lafon; her middle stage education at Carter G. Woodson; and her secondary education at Walter L. Cohen – class of 1975. After completing high school, Early went on to further her education by attending Southern University of New Orleans. Earlyn and Tyrone married in 1978. This union welcomed their daughter Valencia A. Humbles. Earlyn had a rich and long Christian history. At an early age, Earlyn found her love of God. She was baptized and married at Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church by the late Reverend John Francis. It was also here, at Pilgrim, where she began her love of music as a soloist as well as a flautist. Earlyn continued her walk with the Lord joining the Apostolic Outreach Center in the early-1980s where she continued her artistry as a soloist and flautist. At her death, Earlyn was a dedicated member of Camiellia House (Slidell, LA). Earlyn was strong in her faith, family, and friends. She was always open-hearted. Her love for people started her on her journey in the healthcare field. Earlyn worked in transportation, palliative care and later became a bereavement coordinator. Earlyn was a generous and loving individual who never met a stranger. She was passionate about her family, education, music, and, most importantly, a praise worshiper. Relatives and Friends; Pastors, officers, and members of Camiellia House, Branch Bell Baptist Church, Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church, Full Life Faith Ministry, Household of Faith, and AOC past and present, are invited to attend the Funeral Service and Christian Burial at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001. Viewing will begin at 12:00 Noon followed by full service and burial at 1:00 pm. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie, LA.
