Dorothy L. Whitcomb

Dorothy L. Whitcomb passed on to Heaven on Tuesday, May 25, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was 89. Dorothy was born on September 2,1930 in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents were the late Eugene and Mary Leroy. Her siblings were the late William Leroy, Joseph Leroy, and Alice Leroy Pilcher. Her husband was the late Fred Whitcomb. Dorothy and her husband had four daughters: Valerie Owen (Robert), Diane Bothman (Dennis), Susan Kessler (Sven) and Carolyn Crumholt (Kenny) and nine grandchildren: Nicholas, Matthew, and Elizabeth Owen, Scott Bothman (deceased), Brett Bothman, Ian and Monique Kessler, and Ashley and Cameron Crumholt. She also had two great- grandchildren, Lillian Bothman and Walter Owen along with several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy and her husband were self-employed as business owners on Magazine Street. After Dorothy sold the businesses and retired, she became active in the Metairie YMCA where she made many friends. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, reading, and travel.
A Memorial Service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, July 17,2021 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am followed by the service lead by Pastor Ford Dieth. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to either the YMCA – Metairie, www.ymcaneworleans.org/support/donate or to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
