Dorothy Marie Petersen

Dorothy "Dot" Petersen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 after a brief illness. A native of Oakdale, Louisiana and a resident of Metairie for the past 19 years. She was a stylist assistant for many years at Salon Estetica and at Kyle's Salon Gallery, making many lasting friendships along the way. She was a loving and proud mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, but most of all, she was a doting and devoted "Nana" to her adoring grandchildren. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Lori LaRocca (Michael) and Michael Petersen (Cindy); her sister, Velma Creel; her beloved grandchildren: Chase and Lindsey LaRocca and Gavin and Dylan Petersen; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews all of whom she held near and dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Aline Johnston; her sisters, Venar Tucker and Gail LeBlanc; her brother, Kenneth Johnston; and her grandson, Blake LaRocca.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 17 , 2018 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with the service starting at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by interment in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 11316 River Road in St. Rose, LA.
