Sadly, Doris Marie Landry Sagers left us at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 96 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Chester E. (Chuck) Sagers; her parents, Frederick and Celestine Landry; her brother and sisters, Lulabel Melancon, Fred Landry, Sr. and Myrtle Muller; her son, John Ezra Sagers; her Godson, Lloyd Crochet and her grand dog, Mason Sagers. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Sagers; her Godson, George H. Melancon, Jr.; her great Godson, Aiden Roof and her grand dogs, Elway, Keiffer and Annie Sagers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Doris was born on June 25, 1925 in Klotzville, LA. She graduated from Belle Rose High School and Soulé Business College. She moved to New Orleans in the late 1940’s. She worked as a secretary for Halliburton and was an excellent dance instructor and bowler. She moved to Metairie, LA, met Chuck, married him and resided there for over 50 years. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Parish. She enjoyed and met many wonderful friends over the years at Halliburton, the Mascots, the People Program, St. Ann’s Church, Spice World, Kehoe-France School, Academy of the Sacred Heart, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends to LSU games, bowling tournaments, Disney World, Spice World, vacations and on bus trips to many cities. She also loved to watch Lawrence Welk. I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Andy Caneza and their entire family for all of their friendship, support and kindness over many decades. When she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2008, she was cared for by her husband, daughter, sister, mainly her niece, Cindy Melancon, many of her daughter’s best friends, Heart of Hospice, Ameracare Hospice, and St. Joseph Hospice. I would like to thank Chateau Drugs, Lisa, Donna, Danielle, Marilyn, Carmella, Kim, Lonnie, Alicia, Alexis, Daphne, Nicole, Charles, Roz, Vera, Barbara and Nonnie for taking such excellent care of her for the past 10 years. Visitation will be held at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
