Donald A. Florentino

Donald Anthony Florentino passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022 at home in Madisonville and by his side was his beloved wife of 35 years, Charlene Muller Florentino. He was son of the late Dominic J. Florentino and Leona Mentel Florentino and will be greatly missed by his sister, Cynthia Higdon (Dennis); brother-in-law, Charles ‘Mel’ Muller; sisters-in-law: Linda Poche (Albert), Katherine Meynard, and Janet Roth (Michael); as well as a host of nieces and nephews in Nashville and the New Orleans/Baton Rouge areas. Don graduated from USL with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and his MBA from Loyola University. He was known as ‘Flo’ to his PKT fraternity brothers. Don was a CPA in the oil and gas industry for several years; he then worked in the energy industry for many years until he retired from Entergy Services in 2009 as the Director of Tax Audits and Legislative Affairs. Don received an Honorable Discharge as a First Lieutenant after 12 years in the United States Army Reserves. As a native of New Orleans, Don was a lifetime fan of Tulane University and was a member of the Tulane Greenbackers booster club in the mid 1980s and served as President in the mid to late 1990s. He loved college sports and was a loyal fan of the University of Alabama. Don’s favorite pastimes were tropical vacations with friends and family, fishing, scuba diving, and snow skiing. He spent as much time as possible fishing in Bay St. Louis and Lafitte.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
