Don Jude Dowling Sr

Don Jude Dowling Sr., 81, of New Orleans, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 in New Orleans. A Memorial with Service to follow will be held from 10 AM – 1 PM Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001. Don Jude Dowling Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Mr. and Mrs. Leo B. Dowling on November 20, 1940. He married Jackie A. Dowling on September 15, 1963 in Jefferson Parish. He worked as a Pressman for The Times-Picayune and then as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Hyster and Deep South. He was a veteran of The Cuban Missile Crisis in the 6th Fleet on the U.S.S. Roosevelt in the Mediterranean and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and 6 months. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. Don Jude Dowling Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Leo B. Dowling; his mother, Rita R. Dowling; his son, Patrick C. Vieira; and his grandson, Hunter L. Wood. Don Jude Dowling Sr. is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie A. Dowling; his children: Pete L. Wood, Dexter L. Wood, Don J. Dowling Jr., and Jeaninne L. Chatelain; his brothers, Leo J. Dowling and Lionel H. Dowling; and many more loved ones.
