Dominic J. Gagliano Sr., passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, June 6 2022, at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Judy Gagliano, for 65 years with whom he had 3 children: Joseph Gagliano, Dominic Gagliano Jr., and Tommy Gagliano. He was the caring and devoted grandfather of Daniel, Victoria, and Isabella Gagliano. He is survived by his 4 loving sister-in-laws: Phyllis, Fran, Hilda, and Jackie; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins in Italy. He was preceded in death by his father, Giuseppe Gagliano; his mother, Anna Gagliano; and his brother, Frank Gagliano.
Dominic was truly such a strong person, both inside and out. He prospered as a famed athlete at Warren Easton High School, still holding a school record to this day since he graduated in 1956. Dominic continued his legacy of football and track after high school and played at Perkinston College in Mississippi for a few years before starting a family.
There is no denying that Dominic was a noticeably hard worker. He worked at Campbell’s Cabinets, designing and selling kitchens and baths, for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 81. He built his entire home on 10 acres of land in Bush, Louisiana, and consistently maintained the property for years. Dominic was also a member of the Clearview Lions Club for 7 years and was President from 1982-1983. Any time there was a job that needed to be done, Dominic was the first person to offer up his time and labor, never expecting anything in return. Whenever he was able to make others happy, especially his loved ones, his unforgettable smile would radiate on for miles.
In his spare time, Dominic enjoyed watching sports games, especially his favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints; hanging out with his grandchildren; and traveling/cruising. A true man of God, Dominic devoted his life to prayer and offerings. He was an avid donator to St. Jude’s Children Hospital and disabled Veterans.
There wasn’t a person he did not like, nor a person who did not like him. Dominic was loved by so many and will be severely missed. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
