Dianne Crosby Montalbano, the beloved wife of Frank “Monte” Montalbano, transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, December 27, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dianne was born August 24, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana; she lived most of her life as a proud resident of Gretna. She passed peacefully at her home in Hammond, Louisiana, surrounded by her family. Dianne was the proud mother of Elaine Major (Stephen Israel) and Elizabeth Szabo (Bert) and a loving grandmother “Granny” of Gabbi Szabo and Marcel Szabo (Emma). Dianne was blessed with four bonus children; Lori Pereda (Oscar, deceased), Frank Joseph Montalbano, Daniel Montalbano (Charlotte), Douglas Montalbano (Linda), twelve bonus grandchildren, and ten bonus great-grandchildren.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents Elmore Crosby and Althia Henning Crosby; guardians Irene Henning Burlet and Catherine “Catsie” Estelle Burlet, and siblings Audrey Arnone (Tony), Beverly Richardson (Bob), Althia Graham (Phillip), Elmore Crosby, Jr. She is survived by sisters Linda Crosby (Nelson Leonard, deceased) and Deborah Spencer (Todd) and many nieces and nephews.
Dianne graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School in 1962 and attended St. Mary’s Dominican College. Dianne retired from Entergy Corporation after 27 years of service. Prior to entering the workforce, Dianne devoted her time to caring for her children.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home at 3827 Canal St. New Orleans, LA 70119 on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Visitation begins at 10:30 AM followed by a Catholic Service at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery at 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA 70001.
