Charles “Charlie” Matthew Roser, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Frederick Roser and Adelaide Roser Lentz; his siblings, John Frederick Roser, Sr. (late, Marie), Adelaide Roser DeLatte (late, Alvin), and Rosemary Roser Keller Finch (late, Howard); and his sister-in-law, Marie Roser. He leaves behind his loving wife of 67+ years, Nina Perron Roser. He is also survived by his son, Charles “Chip” Matthew Roser, Jr. (Maria de Santis); his beloved granddaughters, Vanessa and Catherine Roser; his brother, Bennett A. Roser, Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charlie is a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA since 1955. He is a founding parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, as well as a member of the St. Edward’s Hilltoppers, the American Legion, and AARP #1965. Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3C during World War II. He worked for Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years and retired as the chief clerk in Mays Yard.
The family would like to give thanks to all of the family, friends and neighbors for their help during their time of need. They would also like to give thanks to Dr. Robert Songy, R&R Home Care Services, and Notre Dame Hospice for their care of Charlie and a special thanks to Dianne Chieffo for always being there.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at St. Edward the Confessor, 4921 W. Metairie Ave. in Metairie, LA on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
