Charles L. McRae

Charles Lamar McRae, Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully at Ochsner Baptist Hospital on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Charles, a.k.a. "Chuck" or "Lamar" as some may have called him, was born and raised in Waynesboro, MS and lived in River Ridge, LA for 50 years. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Leila McRae; step-father, Wilfred Reichle; loving wife, Elsie Ruth Abramson McRae; loving daughter, Cynthia McRae Faciane; sisters: Annie McRae Gardner, Lois McRae Stoltz, Shirley McRae Ormond, and Lucille McRae Lee; and brothers, Carl McRae and Clifford McRae. Charles is survived by his son, Charles McRae, Jr. (Ingrid); granddaughters, Jessica McRae Garland (Patrick) and Lauren McRae; son-in-law, Jerry Faciane; brother, Clinton Reichle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom all loved him very much.
Charles was a devoted and faithful follower as a Presbyterian and loved and served our Lord Jesus at Jefferson Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years. Charles worked as a salesman in the automotive parts industry for multiple New Orleans companies for 40 years until he retired. He was a longtime member of the Harahan Lions Club. Charles was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a Gunner and we thank him for his service. Charles loved life. He loved people, the Saints, all parades, visiting relatives in Waynesboro, his granddaughters, his church family, and all of his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with the Funeral Service starting at 1:00 pm followed by burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles's honor to Jefferson Presbyterian Church, 4450 Jefferson Hwy, Jefferson, LA 70121.
