Charles J. Hasselbeck, Jr. ascended on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the age of 57. He was a beautiful, soulful, timeless brother who always put others before himself. He had a big, infectious smile and greeted everyone with a warm embrace.
As an artist and musician, he enjoyed hanging out with friends and attending festivals, Mardi Gras and live music events. A true music lover, he listened to bands like The Moody Blues, Yes, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, etc., and working the lightshows for TABULA RASA, a New Orleans Prog-Rock band that ruled the NOLA music scene in the late 80’s and 90’s. Charles marched many times with the Krewe of Dreux, performed at many Pow-Wows within the Native American culture, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, and painting.
Charles was the best kind of family member you can have, some even choosing to make him their family member. He was a ray of positive light, empathy, peace and love, that brightened the lives of anyone in his presence. He was the favorite chaperone on school field trips and easily the coolest guy in the room at any given moment. His generosity knew no bounds. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Charles Hasselbeck. He is survived by his children, Amber and Jonah Hasselbeck; the mother of his children and life-long friend Wanda Roberts; his sister and brother-in-law, Dana and Leo Palazzo; his nephew, Leonardo Palazzo; and extended family members Katelynn and Wrenley Meyers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hasselbeck property in Madisonville, 1957 Highway 22 on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 11:00 AM – till.
