Candida Rosa Chang Chow passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the age of 87.
Candida was born on October 31st, 1931 in Rama, Nicaragua and became a United States citizen in 1997. She was the daughter of the late José Chang and Maria Martinez and sister of Anita Chow and the late Erlinda Martinez Chang Mathew. She was married to the late Adan Chow Pong. They raised seven beautiful children: Leyla Chow Bolaños (Jorge), Iraida Chow Saddy (Rafael), Leonel Chow Chang (Karina), Xiomara Chow Quesada (Ismael), Elvin Chow Chang (Helen), Edgard Chow Chang (Nidia), and Ronald Chow Chang (Teresa). She was a loving grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and 9 nephews survive her.
Candida was a successful business owner and full-time mother. She was a devout Catholic and family oriented. She had a passion for cooking, baking, animals, and sewing. She absolutely loved to celebrate birthdays and make her loved ones feel special. She was well known for her elegance and impeccable attire. She was admired by not only family but also all who meet her. She left her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with sweet smiles, soft but strong lasting hugs, and heartfelt advice to last a lifetime. She had a sweet smell and a genuine presence that is unforgettable. Candida was known as the family queen, may her reign live on in our hearts and in our memories.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a Memorial Mass beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Jefferson Parish Human Service Authority or "JPHSA" at www.jphsa.org.
