Calvin Kellum Jr.

Calvin Kellum Jr., born March 19, 1942 passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Laurel, MS, Calvin resided in Metairie, LA with his loving wife of 62 years, Hilda Landry Kellum. Calvin leaves behind a loving extended family: Three children, James, Sandy (Larry), Terry (Melanie); Six grandchildren, Vanessa (Jeremy), Amanda (Jeremy), James Jr., Erica (Andrew), Shelby, Lauryn (Kris); Eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon (Alexis), Chloe, Noah, Alex, Andrew, Addisyn, Jackson, Blake, Charlotte, Luca, and Tyler; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aurora. Born to the late J.C. Kellum and late Lola Huggins Kellum, Calvin was the oldest of nine children: Barbara, Roy (Rhetta), David (Donna), Jack (Kim), Paul (Mary), Bobby (Cindy), Lola (Lester), and the late Diane. He is also survived by countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. An avid archer and leather maker, Calvin enjoyed working in his garden, watching westerns, visiting the casino, paying homage to his Native American heritage, and playing triominoes with his loving wife Hilda. As the patriarch of his family, he will be greatly missed by all. 

Funeral arrangements will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am for the family and 9:30 am for the public with a service starting at 12:00 noon followed by interment.
