Bernice M. Campos, 85, a native of New Orleans and resident of Mandeville since 2000, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus at her home on January 28, 2018, while surrounded by her children.
She was preceded in death by Alphonse E. Campos, Jr., her husband of 32 years. She is survived by her four children: Terri Huguet (Ron), Eric Campos (Jean), Geralyn Barker (Cedric), and Barry Campos (Peg). Bernie was blessed with nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and another one on the way.
Bernie spent the majority of her professional career in the banking and mortgage industry before retiring in order to spoil her grandchildren on a full-time basis. She loved playing Bingo with friends and expressing her creativity through sewing, needlepoint, embroidery, and ceramics. “Grammy” was also a fierce video game competitor with her grandchildren.
She will always be remembered for her undying generosity, kindness and compassion and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at Beau Provence Memory Care Assisted Living as well as Passages Hospice for their dedication and the loving care provided to Bernie.
Services will be held at THE Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a mass and burial at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com
