Barbara Ann Derenbecker

Barbara Jamerson Derenbecker passed away peacefully on November 25, 2022 at 87 years of age. She was predeceased by her loving husband Edgar Roy Derenbecker, her parents T. Paul Jamerson and Laverne Helen Roeder, and her son-in-law Marty Brugner. She is survived by her brother Tom Jamerson (Celeste); her children Sandra Derenbecker, Eddie Derenbecker Jr (Rachel), Ron Derenbecker (Susan), and Linda Derenbecker Brugner; her grandchildren Chris Vickrey (Chrissy), Lieutenant Brian Derenbecker, USN (Meghan), Joe Vickrey, Ryan Derenbecker, Ensign Ashley Derenbecker, USN, Sarah Derenbecker Bingham (Trey), Kyle Derenbecker, Andrew Brugner, Riley Brugner, and Lisa Waldo; her great-granddaughters Lucy and Paige, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Barbara was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She grew up in Carrollton and Mid-City where she graduated from Eleanor McMain High School in 1952. Besides New Orleans, she has lived in Norfolk, Va, Philadelphia, Pa, Baton Rouge, La, Union City, Tn, and Memphis, Tn. She was a resident of Kenner, Louisiana for the past 46 years. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She was an active member of many organizations over the years. She loved flowers, travel, jigsaw puzzles, card games, the theater, dancing and dining out in true New Orleans fashion. She most loved time spent with family and friends at gatherings large and small. For the past several years, Barbara has suffered with limited mobility, chronic pain, and increasing physical and mental decline. While her passing saddens us, we know she is no longer in pain, and she is now at peace. Funeral will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Garden of Memories funeral home. Visitation from 9:30am. Service will begin at 11:30am. Graveside will immediately follow.
