Arthur O. Lawson Jr.

Arthur O. Lawson, Jr. passed away at his home in Metairie on July 10, 2018. He was 79. He was Prince Charming to his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Jean Rome Lawson since they day they met and the devoted father of four children: Arthur ''Arty'', III, Ara Marie, Alan(Margaret) and the late Andrew Paul Lawson. He was the World’s Greatest PawPaw to: Shannon (Jeff), Jason (Mallory), Shelly, Lucy (Cuyler) and Sheila (Morgan) and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ara Rodriguez Lawson and Arthur O. Lawson, Sr.
Arthur started his career as an electrical permit helper in 1960 with the IBEW Local 130 Union and was initiated into the union as a member in 1965 and served on the apprenticeship board of the union for many years. In 1974, Arthur and Gene Riggleman started the annual picnic for the IBEW Local 130. In 1983, he opened the family business, A. Lawson's Enterprises, Inc., a union shop. He was a man that truly stuck to the motto "Family over everything” and made himself available for everyone who needed him, helping any way he could. He created the bond that we all so closely share in this family.
Family and Friends are welcome to join us to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
