Tribute

Armond J. Blondeau passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Blondeau and Eva Butler Blondeau, and his grandson, Brent Armond Deykin. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Edith Joyce Blondeau, and his daughters: Cheri Deykin, Danielle Calamia (Ron), and Nanette Hyatt (Art). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brad Deykin (Marissa), Brooke Deykin, Dustin Calamia (Shelley), Sean Calamia (Randi), Aimee Hyatt Whatley (John Marshall), Aaron Hyatt (Kelsey), and Adler Hyatt (Heather) and 13 great-grandchildren: Emma and Evan Arceneaux; Kate, Claire, Camille, Caroline, and Konrad Deykin; Edie and Maggie Whatley; Alex and Millie Hyatt; and Braydon and Harper Calamia.
Armond served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon returning home to New Orleans, he began a lifelong career as a parts manager in the automobile industry beginning at Metairie Ford and retiring from Benson Mercedes-Benz. He had a love for all things Mardi Gras. He was a former member and Duke in the Krewe of Mid-City, Duke in the Krewe of Iris, husband of the Captain/Chairman and King of the Krewe of Isis. He was the Parade Marshall of many Jefferson Parish parades for over 40 years.
He lived a long and happy life. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends, especially Karen and Johnny Bejma. A special Thank You to the nurses and team (Christy, Phillip, and Magan) who helped us along this journey to keep him home and comfortable until the end.
Relative and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie, LA 70003 on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with a Mass starting at 12:00 noon. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send monetary donations in the name of Blondeau Family to the St. Mary Magdalen Building Maintenance Fund by mail, 6425 W. Metairie Ave. Metairie, LA 70003.
