Anthony John "AJ" Vicari Jr.

Anthony John (AJ) Vicari, Jr. passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Wanda Ford Vicari. Son of the late Ruth Lochbaum Vicari and Anthony J. Vicari, Sr. Father of Jason Anthony Vicari (wife Nancy) and Kristine V. Flynn (husband Joey). Grandfather of Anthony (Tony) Kuo Vicari, Paxton Anthony Flynn, Norah Claire Flynn and Charlotte Claire Flynn. Stepfather of the late Eugene David Vaughn (wife Christina) and the late Elizabeth Mary Vaughn. AJ is also survived by his sisters, Letty Vicari Guidry (Gary) and Kathy Vicari Kohl (August) and many nieces and nephews.
AJ was a native of Kenner, LA and a resident of River Ridge LA. He was a high school graduate of John Curtis High School where he played football. Throughout his life, AJ was employed by the Kenner Volunteer Fire Department, St. Charles Sheriff’s Office, was part owner in Gulf South Towing Company, a tug boat captain and later, a marine surveyor. He also worked for Cabel Industries and Durr Industries supervising road construction. He was a manager at Stonebreaker’s Restaurant and later owned and operated Romeo’s Restaurant in the River Ridge area. Currently, he was a supervisor working for RMC Construction doing home construction, renovations and repairs.
As a Mardi Gras fan, he belonged to the Krewe of Carrollton and the Krewe of Zeus Carnival Clubs and participated in the Irish Italian Parade yearly. In his earlier days, he raised and bred Quarter horses and eventually became a judge in the industry.
AJ also loved fishing, but all-in-all, his passion was duck hunting. If anyone was ever looking for AJ, all they had to do was follow his trail to the swamp. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and teaching them about hunting and fishing.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate AJ’s life on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd. in New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by a brief service.
