Angelo Salvador Ferrara passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the age of 90. He proudly served his country during World War II in the Merchant Marines and then in the United States Army. He retired from Auto-Chlor Systems after several years of dedicated employment. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Angelo is survived by his children Pamela Ferrara Pierce (Kenneth), Ann Ferrara Slayton, and Daniel J. Ferrara (Robin); his grandchildren Viki, Todd, Ray, Cheri, Brandi, Angelo, III, Scott, Abby, and Sophia; and great grandchildren Victoria, Meghan, Katelyn, Kaylee, Kyra, Lacey, Luke, and Roman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lesslie Ferrara; his son Angelo S. Ferrara, II; his parents Salvadore Ferrara and Madelina Sacco Ferrara; and his siblings Rosie Ferrara Militello (Frank), Mary Ferrara Letto (Mike), Virginia Ferrara Schwandt (Emile), Tony Ferrara (Josephine), Joe Ferrara (Pearl), Charlie Ferrara (Mary), Alex Ferrara and Albert Ferrara.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org. The family also wishes to express gratitude to the caring and compassionate nurses and aides of Jefferson Healthcare Center.
