Allen Lee Oehler

July 17, 1929 ~ April 15, 2024 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

Allen “Lee” Oehler, of River Ridge, Louisiana, was born on July 17, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He was called to his heavenly home on April 15, 2024 at the age of 94.
Lee was a passionate enthusiast of aviation and entered the United States Air Force on March 11, 1952 in order to pursue that passion. During his 4 years of dedicated military service, he excelled as an Air Traffic Controller and was honorably discharged on June 6, 1956. He enjoyed a distinguished 30 year career as an Air Traffic Controller at New Orleans International Airport and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He loved boating, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing, camping, photography, music and building, each of which was a joy for him to share with his family.
The chapters that comprise the life of our patriarch began with hardship and deprivation. His despair later transitioned into an uncompromising resolve that allowed him to overcome the script that his childhood attempted to dictate. Not exempt from continuing challenges, he continued to persevere, and his story on this side of heaven ended with him being embraced by a family who loved him deeply, now heartbroken to move forward without him.
In our grief, we are rejoicing that he fought the good fight, finished his race, and kept the faith. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” “Lee” to some and “Daddy/Dad/Popsie/and Bobby” to others, will be sorely missed.
He and his devoted wife, Dorothy, were married for 50 years, and his final moments were spent in her loving arms. Left to cherish a lifetime of memories with him are his children, Cheryl Seevers (Dan), David Oehler (Patti), Kerri Owens, and Scott Pittard; grandchildren, Kristen Enochs, Justin Seevers (Winnie), Jennifer Fleming, Devin Oehler (Traci), Lindsey Dean, Gavin Owens, and Jenna Owens; great-grandchildren, Caleigh Seevers, Jayse Enochs, Danny Seevers, Dylan Oehler, Kailey Fleming, and Austyn Akin. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Woolard (Mark). Our blended family includes his first marriage to Juanita Clement Shipman, with whom he and Dorothy shared a beautifully rare relationship of mutual admiration and respect.
