Albert Jewell

Albert J. Jewell, Sr., 93, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Metairie, LA. He was the beloved husband of the late Sally Bennett Jewell and father of Albert J. Jewell, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas H. Jewell; his mother Marguerite Jewell-Melancon; stepfather Jules A. Melancon; and siblings Eunice J. Bergeron, Alma Jewell Venezia, Walter P. Jewell, Alvin J. Jewell, Thomas J. Jewell, and Thelma E. Ruschel.
Albert proudly served in both the United States Army and United States Merchant Marines during WWII. After his military service, he worked for many years at the Great American Box Company and retired from the American Can Company. Albert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, golf, and gardening, as well as an avid Saints and LSU fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001 followed by interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to mass from 9:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
