Rose Estrada Taquino passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the age of 81. She was a resident of New Orleans and Kenner for the past 72 years and a graduate of Redemptorist High School. Born in Bluefields, Nicaragua on December 27, 1935 to the late Irneo Estrada and Mercedes Manning Estrada. Grandaughter of the late Nicaraguan President General Juan Jose Estrada and Salvadora Aviles Estrada. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Taquino; her sister, Salvadora E. Cazalot; and her brother, Jose Dolores Estrada. She is survived by her loving husband, Vincent Taquino; and her daughters, Ivette Taquino and Vanessa Stahel. Proud “MawMaw” to Marissa Ramsey, Tyler Stahel, Breana Ramsey, and Madison Stahel. She is also survived by her sister, Graciela Estrada; her loving Estrada cousins; many nieces and nephews; and Jennifer Klein, whom she considered a bonus daughter. She was a longtime member of the Rhea carnival club, St. Lawrence the Martyr Parents Club, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Grandparents Club. For many years, she enjoyed participating in activities with her beloved Pokeno and Red Hat Society Club friends. She loved riding in and going to parades, dancing, babysitting, sewing, cooking and watching New Orleans Saints and LSU football games. She also loved decorating the house during the holidays. Rose was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
