Rita Dargis

Rita Dargis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 89.  She was born in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of Metairie. Rita was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, had many hobbies, was very talented and a fabulous cook. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Louis King of France and participated in many organizations. 
Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, George J. Dargis; her son, George J. Dargis Jr.; and parents, Sidney L. Lapuyade Jr. and Irene G. Lapuyade. She was a kind, loving and devoted mother to George Dargis (Niki), Albert Dargis (Mary), Stephen Dargis (Iona), Michael Dargis (Karla), and Darlene D. Olivier. She was also a very proud and loving MawMaw. Her greatest pleasure was spending time and doting over each and every one of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rita was a caring sister to Lois Pleyel (Oscar), the late Sidney L. Lapuyade III (Diane), Lenny Lapuyade (Johanna), Irene Falcon (Ron), and the late Sidney Lapuyade. She was a loving family member to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her very dear friends. 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, February 27, 2021.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a service in the chapel at 11:00 am, followed by burial.  In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital can be made in her memory at https://www.stjude.org/.
