Mary Lee Dupré Verrette passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the age of 93. Born August 14, 1924 in Assumption Parish to the late John Gibbons Dupré and Marie LeBlanc Dupré. She married the love of her life, Davis A. Verrette Sr., on July 18, 1945 and enjoyed 69 years of marriage before he passed away in 2014. She is the beloved mother of Davis A. Verrette Jr., Craig J. Verrette (Jane), and Brian P. Verrette (Denise). Loving grandmother of Aaron S. Verrette, Adam J. Verrette, Bradley P. Verrette (Audry), and Ashley Verrette Bryan (Kyle). Great-grandmother of Mary Elizabeth Verrette and Madison Bryan. Sister of the late Jeanette Dupré LeBlanc, Leslie Dupré, Audrey Dupré Cedotale, Woodrow Dupré, Rita Mae Dupré Thibodeaux, and Kenneth Dupré.
Mary was a simple and kindhearted woman. She loved caring for her children, grandchildren and other children she would babysit. She was a 29 year cancer survivor and she battles Alzheimer’s disease for the past 10 years. She was much loved and will be missed by those who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until Mass time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
