Lydia Bryant Curtis
March 24, 1948 ~ March 12, 2024 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Lydia Bryant Curtis sang her beautiful soul into Heaven on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 2:40 am. She passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband, J.T. Curtis, and other family members by her side. She was born on March 24, 1948, to Richard and Annabelle Bryant. Lydia’s life was her family. She was the backbone to her record-setting husband and did everything in her power to allow him to excel both on the field and in life. She adored her three children, her son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, her ten grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Daughter Joanna Fabacher is married to Tommy and has two daughters, Reaghan and Rylee. Son Johnny Curtis is married to Dawn Cabrera Curtis and has three sons, John IV (Jay), Michael, and Jason. Son Jeff is married to Toni Black Curtis and has five children, Anna, Abbi, Jeffrey, Avery, and Jackson. Lydia has two siblings, Hattie Bryant (married to Bruce Cambre) and Paul Bryant (married to Sandy Bryant). Lydia worked at John Curtis Christian School as an executive assistant, filling in numerous roles in and around school. She helped raise over 1 million dollars through the Big Blue Auction fundraiser, which she started and was the chair of. She also worked for the American Heart Association as an executive assistant for over 10 years and served as the director of music at Coliseum Place Baptist Church for 41 years. After her children, singing was her passion. Her beautiful voice could be heard routinely at John Curtis Christian School athletic events, where she would sing the National Anthem, at graduation ceremonies and other events where music and singing were involved. She also sang at numerous weddings and events of friends, family members, and former students. She was the perfect complement to J.T. in all aspects of life. Her beauty, style, grace, and competitive spirit always showed through. Her warm smile and loving touch or hug were always evident. The highlights of her week included cooking every Wednesday night for her family, Sunday church with lunch afterwards amongst family. She also enjoyed vacationing to the Destin, Florida, area with her family in the summer, where her delicious cookies always met hungry, or full, stomachs. Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Victory Church, 5708 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70003 where she sang on numerous occasions for JCCS graduation services. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm with a service beginning at 4:00 pm.
