Kerry Wayne Abel, Sr. passed away at East Jefferson General Hospital on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the age of 59. He was the devoted husband of Virginia Todaro Abel for 36 years. Loving father of Angel Anna Maria Ramos (Miguel Ramos), Kerry Wayne Abel, Jr. (Erin Abel), Virginia Marian Abel (Sean Fonseca), Christina Josephine Abel (Dennis Creter), Michael Blaise Abel (Karla Garcia) and Matthew Anthony Abel. Proud grandfather of Kerry Wayne Abel, III and Harper Eleanore Abel. He was the son of Ken Marvin Abel and Betty Hutchinson Abel and the brother of the late Kenny Marvin Abel, Wendy Abel Vaccaro and Robin Lisa Abel. He was the brother-in-law of Joyce Abel, Maria Nicholson (Barry Nicholson), Stephen Todaro, Francisco Avella and John Vaccaro, II. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, John Vaccaro, III, Vincent Vaccaro, Bridget Abel, Beth Williamson, Francisco Avella, Dominic Avella and Giovanni Avella. Kerry was an avid Tulane fan, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and all sports. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2017 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
