Joyce Evelyn Smith Caraway passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy L. Caraway; her son, John Michael Caraway; her parents, George F. and Alice Stokes Smith; and her aunt, Bessie Morrison. Joyce is survived by her sons, David Caraway (Debbie), Stephen Caraway (Karen), and Patrick Caraway; her sisters, Gloria Berthelot and Eileen Smith; 9 grandchildren: Damian, Ryan, Dennis, Gregory, Christine, Joshua, Megan, Clay, and Joey; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with the service officiated by Rev. James Courtney starting at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed or contributions in Joyce's name may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
