Geraldine McDonald (Gigi) Berberovich died peacefully in her sleep and went to be with her Lord on May 12, 2017 at the age of 87. She was born in Jackson, MS on January 24, 1930 and lived in Metairie, LA for 46 years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Thomas Fabian Berberovich; her parents, Vera White McDonald and Anselem McDonald , and her brother Anselem Harrison McDonald.
She is survived by her children: Angela Berberovich Martin (Joe); Thomas Michael Berberovich (Deanna); Cynthia Berberovich Pistorius (Jeff); Timothy Fabian Berberovich (Madelyn); and her 8 grandchildren: Lutgardo Raymond Silva III, Christine Silva Wilson (Evan), Tiffany Berberovich Fallat (Bob), Tina Michelle Berberovich, Timothy Fabian Berberovich Jr., (Megan); Rachael Berberovich Yanke (Kyle); Erika Rene Berberovich, Jolie Nicole Berberovich and 2 great grandchildren, Evan Leigh Wilson and Kimberly Random Wilson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Gigi was a loving wife, Mother and Grandmother. She spent her time on earth doing positive things for many while raising her 4 children and making lasting memories with all of her grandchildren.
She was an avid tennis player and athlete who successfully competed in tennis tournaments over the years. She always instilled lifelong values and inspired all of her family to be the best they could be. She was the family’s biggest fan for all the kids and grandkids sporting events. She loved gardening and home cooking. She was a member of St Clement of Rome for over 40 years and donated to numerous charities.
When you think of a family matriarch, she truly was one. She was a guiding light and inspiring influence on many who came to know her. She goes in peace to join her loving husband and her God. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA and the visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time.
