Edgar “Dito” R. Guillot, III of Harvey, Louisiana was born January 31, 1972, and left his earthly existence on August 20, 2017. He was the beloved son of Edgar and Ella (Vasquez) Guillot. He leaves behind a son, Jackson, his devoted mother and three sisters, Xanah (Eddie) Cameron, Tanya (Chris) Tranchina, and Becky (Jon) Belew. His grandparents and father, as well as a beloved Uncle Galo, Aunt Glennal, and cousin Galito precede him in death. It brings us comfort to know they will be reunited in heaven. Edgar loved being an uncle and enjoyed spending time with his nieces, Zöe, Bella and Evelyn, and his nephews, Austin, Christian, Alex and Zach, whom he loved to play football with and wrestle.
Edgar was a proud member of the Air Force National Guard and a graduate in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University. He was a devoted New Orleans Saints and LSU football fan and loved “All Things NOLA”. He was known for his great taste in music and riding his skateboard with friends. Edgar was passionately opinionated, funny, and deeply loved his family. Most notable of many gifts were his cooking skills. Edgar was an incredible chef, and particularly enjoyed cooking elaborate meals from scratch for his family. He believed you should trust your instincts, not the recipe. The process of creating new menus, trying new techniques, and watching his loved ones gather at the table and eat was one of his favorite things to make happen, to all of our benefit. Until the very end, Edgar gave of himself. As an organ donor, he was able to save and improve many lives. This last gift of sharing has brought great comfort to his family, and will give a renewed sense of purpose to the unknown recipients of his charity.
The family would like to offer its sincere thanks to Dr. David Houghton and his staff, as well as the Huntington’s Disease support group at Ochsner. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America in Edgar R. Guillot III’s name. Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902. New York, NY 10018.
