Cornel Joseph Melancon passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the age of 70. He was the cherished father of Michele Melancon Delhom (Mark) and Michael Cornel Melancon (Jessica) and was blessed with five grandchildren: Britton Deichmann, Michaela Melancon, Isabella Melancon, Gabriel Melancon and Julianna Melancon. He is also survived by a brother, Ronald Melancon; a sister, Dolores Deckelman and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Hyde Melancon; his parents, Constant Pierre Melancon and Juliette Clement Melancon; a sister, Elaine Harrington (Lawrence) and two brothers, Nelson Melancon and Lawrence Melancon (Martha). Cornel was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 60 and enjoyed sharing stories of his life and the wonderful memories of his family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
