Clayton Andrew Schexnaildre, Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Francis Villa in River Ridge, LA. He was 91 years old, a life-long resident of the New Orleans area and a member of St. Rita Church in Harahan, LA. Clayton had a loving marriage to Lois Kerner Schexnaildre that lasted 37 years until her death. Clayton & Lois had five children: Val Schexnaildre King (Ed), Janelle Schexnaildre Tate (Lloyd), Clayton Andrew “Drew” Schexnaildre, Jr. (Lylee), Paul Gerard Schexnaildre who preceded Clayton in death (Suzy), and Rene Thomas Schexnaildre (Susie). After the death of Lois, Clayton enjoyed a 20 year marriage to the late Beverly McCune Schexnaildre. Clayton was blessed to enjoy love and appreciation from Beverly’s children: Tim McCune, Debi McCune Vogel (Ken), Terri McCune Vanderbrook (Bob), Patti McCune (Jane), and the late Danny McCune (Giselle). Clayton is survived by 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Clayton was born on April 19, 1926 in Metairie, LA to the late Lillian Picou Schexnaildre and Chenet Jordan Schexnaildre. He was one of 5 siblings, all of whom preceded Clayton in death. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was a proud alumnus of St. Aloysius High School and Loyola University and served in the U.S. Navy during WW2. He owned and operated Schexnaildre’s Floors & Interiors for 48 years, being well-respected for quality, service & fairness. Clayton was a man fully committed to his family and his Catholic faith: devoted husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather. He was a friendly and kind man who endeared himself to many others throughout his life. His family thanks the administration & staff at St. Francis Villa and his devoted caregiver Blanca Gonzales for the loving environment they provided Clayton during the last years of his life.
