Charles Albert "Al" Aucoin passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 and entered his heavenly home at the age of 70. Beloved husband of 46 years to Jean Carmouche Aucoin. Devoted and loving father of Christopher C. Aucoin (Melissa), Connie M. Aucoin Landeche (Rusty), and Cherie' E. Aucoin (Ira Guidry). Doting and proud grandfather and "Pops" to Reid and Camille Landeche and Chloe' and Claire Guidry. Brother of Camille J. Aucoin, Jr. (Joan). Brother-in-law of Daniel Bird, Robin C. and Tommy Priest, Barry and Rita Carmouche, and Larry S. Carmouche. Also survived by many loving and attentive nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Jenny Lynn Allen and Camille J. Aucoin, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Gladys Badeaux Carmouche; his father-in-law, Irvin J. Carmouche, Sr.; his stepmother-in-law, Shirley Carmouche; his brothers-in-law, Irvin J. ''Johnny", Jr. and Michael D. Carmouche; his sister-in-law, Joan Carmouche Bird; and his nephew, Darren N. Bird. Al was a native of Plaquemine, LA and a lifetime resident of Norco and Destrehan, LA. He was a 1965 graduate of Saint Charles Borromeo High School and attended LSU. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a para-trooper and combat medical corpsman with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Parachute Badge and Vietnam Service Medals. Al worked most of his adult life for various companies in the maritime industry on the Mississippi River. Al's greatest loves were his family, football, fine wine and supplying casinos with money to pay the electric bill. He was an avid LSU football fan. He faithfully attended all sporting and dance events in which his children and grandchildren participated. Al enjoyed coaching for St. Charles Parish recreational sports for many years and was respected and admired by the many young men whom he coached and was still revered by them to this day. He was adamant about being the first place judge for all of the swim meets at the Hill Heights Country Club. He loved congratulating the winning swimmers. For Al, any occasion was a good reason to celebrate, and he always did so whole heartily. The family would like to give special thanks for the loving and attentive care provided by family and friends, especially his daughter, Cherie' and brother-in-law, Danny; the staff of Guardian Angels Hospice: Alaza, Alleen, Yolanda, Connie, Dee and Dr. Vogel; Dr. Brian Brogle; Dr. Henry Jackson; and others who all provided Al with excellent and compassionate care.
