Carolyn Rita Singer Watson, age 87, left her Earthly body on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.  She was born in New Orleans, LA on April 16, 1930 to Myrtle (Bourg) and Joseph Singer.  Carolyn or Cal, was the older sister to Myrtle Joy (Singer) Grace.  She graduated from Jefferson High School and subsequently went to Garner’s Secretarial School.  In 1949 she married LeRoy Lester Watson and in 1953 gave birth to their only son, Joseph Edwin Watson.  She was a loyal and astute accountant for GMAC until her retirement in 1979.  Affectionately known as Mawmaw by her grandchildren: Lisa, Joseph Jr., and James Watson; and her daughter-in-law, Carol Watson; and as Aunt Cal by her nieces and nephews: Nancy, Kelly, Peggy, and Robert, along with their children.
Carolyn loved God, her family, traveling, gardening, birds, and especially dogs.  Roses were her favorite flower; she had so many varieties growing in her yard.  Her favorite bird was the tiny hummingbird and lots of feeders were seen hanging from tree limbs.  If pressed on her favorite dog breed, it was the Rat Terrier. 
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sadly, her son.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 9 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie with a Graveside Service at 10 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.  Carolyn will join her two and four legged loved ones in Eternal Peace.  The Watson family extends our gratitude to the staff at Pontchartrain Guest House and her daughter-in-law, Carol, who loved and cared for her as if she were her own mom.  Rest in Peace Mawmaw, you will be missed and loved for eternity.
