Bernard "Benny" Herman Hagstette Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Frances Frelich Hagstette for over 68 years. Loving father of Sherry Hagstette Sorensen, Benny Hagstette Jr. (Sharon), and the late Cherì Frances Hagstette. Proud grandfather of Kristie Hagstette (Keith Thornblom), Brooke Hagstette (Duane Pettijohn), Jordan Hagstette, and 3 step great-grandsons. Brother of the late Theodore Hagstette (Lueceil). Also survived by 4 nieces, many cousins, and friends.
Benny served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant during the Korean War. After being honarably discharged, he worked for Jackson Brewery for 26 years and then was employed with Dresser Rand for 20 years before retiring. He loved the New Orleans Saints and was an avid fisherman. He played the trumpet for the Warren Easton Marching Band and the United States Marine Band. He was a member of the Warren Easton Graduates Group, the Jerusalem Shriners, and Masonic Grand Lodge #76.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until Mass time. Interment will be held in Garden of Memories Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to a charity of your choice.
